 | About UsPixie Rodent Rescue is based in Ashington, Northumberland, ran by Ebony & Lee. We provide species specific care for most rodents, aiming to give the best possible care until they're ready to move on to forever homes. Currently catering for Rats, Degus, Chinchillas, Gerbils, Hamsters, Mice& Multimammates. Our sister rescue, Pixie Rabbit Rescue, cater for rabbits and we frequently liaise with other local rescues so can help with almost any animal. The rescue is almost entirely self funded, and I have devoted my spare time to the care, and research of rodents. Watch timid animals come in and rehoming confident, wonderful pets is the greatest feeling in the world. |
The Rescue Room
This changes a lot, depending on what animals we have in at the time. More pictures to follow! We actually have 2 rooms now, one being for new arrivals and quarantine until they can safely move into the rescue room without posing a risk to other inhabitants.
We have a range of rodent cages, the smallest full-time cages being a Savic Freddy 2 which our multimammates live in. Our main cages are a Liberta Explorer and a Savic Royal Suite. These are great as we can use them as 2 cages or 4 depending on our needs at the time.
Our gerbil population are housed in large tanks with ample digging room. We aim to give all rescues what we'd give our own animals so everyone gets lots of stimulation and layout changes often!
Each animal gets time out of their cage each day, wether this be handling, or free ranging, dependent on the species and idividual animals needs/ preferences.
